Our Vision

Located on the second floor of the Clark Library building at Howard Community College, the HCCAAC Research Library boast rich and diverse reference materials, posters, magazines, and books that tell the many stories that compose the African American experience in Howard County. Our librarians are happy to guide you to the resource that you want or introduce you to resources that you may not know exist.

Research Library and Archives

The Howard County Center of African American Culture (HCCAAC), Inc.’s Research Library and Archives has a growing collection of over 10,000 African American related books, periodicals, audio and video recordings and other resources.

The HCCAAC Research Library and Archives is committed to identifying expanding and preserving collections that offer students faculty staff and the general public the unique opportunity to appreciate, learn and research the rich history of African Americans. The HCCAAC Research Library and Archives, with over 10,000 books, archival center, extensive vertical file, and non-print media contributes to the educational cultural and research goals set forth by Howard community College.

A new area of the archives that will be dedicated to housing materials relevant to slavery, the Underground Railroad, Reconstruction and native Howard County family and genealogical records is being planned.

The HCCAAC Research library is replete with resources for research and education. Resources ranging from periodicals and books to film and art work. There is something here that will be sure to edify the user.
